this isnt a middle, a beginning, or an end. just...part.
The man who had previously been on the hill was confused. He heard the sounds of a car being driven as though he were inside it, and he had the sensation that he was moving, even though he was lying very still. None of those things could be very plausible, could they? Last he remembered he was walking towards a city, and there hadnt been a car in miles. He hadnt even seen one in weeks. He also remembered lying on the ground. He was lying down now, but this definitely wasnt what he had passed out on. What he had been lying on was definitely desert, and this
this was cooler, and softer. He sensed other people with him, he could hear them shifting about and breathing.
As his consciousness extended further, he became aware of newer sensations. He was thirsty and hungry. He had to go to the bathroom. And why the hell did his head and back hurt so much? He lay there for a while, listening to the others breathing, feeling the ground underneath him move and rumble as whatever he was in moved.
The most confusing part about this whole ordeal was that he hadnt seen anyone in weeks. He knew people were out and about in the world, of course. But knowing of their existence and experiencing their existence are two completely different things. He debated with himself for a while longer on whether or not he should open his eyes and see what was around him and who he was with. There wasnt much else for him to do though, besides lie there, so why not?
His eyes fluttered open. There was, of course, a roof over him. It was a lot higher up than he expected. It looked like the ceiling to a charter bus. The space he was in was much larger than he previously thought
through the power of his peripherals, he could see windows lining the sides of what he know figured to be a bus. The windows were tinted, and out of them he could see the desert sky roll by. He rolled his head towards the front of what he now knew for certain to be a large bus, a decision he instantly regretted. Pain seared through out the back of his head. He figured he should try and remember how that happened.
A girl with dark red hair pulled back into a ponytail was sitting with her back against the side of the bus. She was reading a book he supposed she had salvaged. She glanced towards him, then back to her book. She then quickly glanced back at him and her eyes widened when she noticed he was awake.
Franz! she called. The man in the drivers seat gave a quick glance back.
Yes?
Hes awake.
